I cant id this caterpillar, I really have no idea whether it's a Moth or Butterfly Caterpillar

The lateral hairs and the moustache put it in Lasiocampidae, like http://lepidoptera.butterflyhouse.com.au/lasi/lasi-cats.html
but I have never seen one that yellow. Please : can you take it into protective custody to keep birds, spiders, wasps, flies, etc, from eating it, and rear it to get an adult moth that will be easier to identify ?

That is easy. They all feed on either Gums or Wattles. You should carry a little plastic specimen bottle whenever you go out moth hunting.
