User's notes

The images are part of a sequence of a Brown snake catching and devouring a frog in ANBG’s Rainforest Gully. The complete sighting took over 35 minutes, which included 15 minutes from the time the snake caught the frog, to the final image of the snake devouring the frog. The fifth image is the initial sighting of the snake basking in the sun. It eventually slithered into the undergrowth and 20 minutes later, chased and caught a frog beneath the boardwalk. The first image shows the snake re-emerging from beneath the boardwalk, dragging a frog by one leg. The frog continued to struggle, and the snake eventually resorted to putting coils around it and then on top of it as seen in the fourth image. Additional images from the sequence are shown in following sighting 4412794. Thanks to Marcus and Barbara for the initial sighting of the basking Brown snake and for tracking its progress through the undergrowth.
