At this time of year it is possibly Acacia paramattensis. However there are several species of Acacia with ferhery leavesin the CNM area. Clear photos of a leaf showing the glands on the central stem plus a photo of a branchlet showing how a leaf attaches and whether the branchlet is ribbed or winged ot not are needed to even attempt an ID. A photo with more mature flower buds so that the individual flowers in a flower head can be counted is also helpful.

Wow I didn't know I needed to take so many specifics. It was right next to the loop behind the visitor centre of Namadgi. I know which tree it was so I can get better photos next time I go back there. The photos I have now where taken in April earlier this year. So if it doesn't concern you that it's already been half a year since then, I'd be happy to arrange getting better photos for ID. Is there anything else I should get a photo of apart from the ones you've already mentioned?

The whole plant is always useful. Also if you go out there regularly a photo with lare buds as well as flowers. Make any new photos a new sighting linked to this one so there is a timeline.
A bit slack of me. I did not check the date. The reference to Acacia paramattensis was assuming the photos were taken in the last couple of days.

OK so the whole plant, close-up of leaf, leaf attachment to branchlet and the branchlet itself, as well as possibly flowers or what the buds look like when I go - that'll work. All good! I will add another sighting of the same tree when I go to Namadgi hopefully in the next few days. Am I able to link the sighting to this one or will the website make it a timeline automatically from location details?

No. You need to click on canberra.naturemapr.org at the top of this sighting. That will bring up the URL of this sighting. Then paste the URL of this sighting into the comments field of the new sighting. And vice versa. A bit of a pain.
