To help with your tree id project, you may like to look at https://www.flickr.com/photos/61627737@N03/albums/72157627244893256/ which shows many of the species on Mt Majura. And see https://majura.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/Trees-of-Mt-Majura-2.1.pdf which helps with ids for gum trees.
Hi and yes haha I do know that much- but hadn’t seen an acacia this big so assumed it was a gum. I’m trying to learn to identify different gums- I clearly have a long way to go.
Acacia implexa; the first photo shows globular flower heads among sparse foliage; the heavy fungal gall infestation weakens the tree; additional stress such as current drought may give it the rest i.e. it most likely dies soon. hackettganggang Acacia = wattles are NOT Eucalyptus = gum trees
