I don't think it is Briza maxima, maybe B. minor, but I'd like to see more of the plant

What was the size? Briza minor is half the size of Briza maxima and has half the number of seeds. This looks like B. minor that has lost most of the spikelet, leaving just the glumes (basal bracts) and one or two floret parts.

I have compared this with Briza maxima on Isaacs Ridge and they look the same.
