Myrmecia maura (Wide jawed bullant)

Myrmecia maura is part of the Myrmecia aberrans species group which also contains the species Myrmecia aberrans (recorded in SA) and Myrmecia froggatti (mainly in NSW but also recorded in QLD and SA) as well as several other poorly documented species. Myrmecia maura has been recorded in NSW and the ACT). Both M. aberrans and M. froggatti are known to have very small colonies estimated at around 20 - 40 individuals.
