Saplings also present. So reproducing successfully. Very puzzling that someone would plant it there.

No way this is a natural, so will have been planted at some stage. I spoke to Dean Nicolle about subsp of E.cinerea in the nursery trade and he thought both subsp were fairly prevalent for a time. Less so now.
