Scarabaeidae (family) (Scarab beetle, curl grub)

A large family of beetles that includes dung beetles, Christmas beetles and flower scarabs. The larvae live in concealment, feeding on plant roots, humus or rotting wood; a small minority appear to be predatory on immature ants or termites.
