User's notes

Uncertain about this: possibly Juncus usitatus ? although inflorescence looks too dense. About 20 tussocks, 60 cm tall: culms green, striate, pith interrupted. Capsules reddish, longer than tepals.

I can't find a species witha diffuse infloresence and reddish capsuels on maturity so perhaps the fruit on these plants is a bit young. It's more like usitatus than sarophorus or flavidus which were the other two I was considering. A real mystery!

According to VicFlora, Juncus usitatus has golden brown or reddish-brown capsules; alos its tepals exceed capsule.

Correction: capsules exceed tepals (characteristic for usitatus).
