Would like to know what these ants are doing and what the eggs are.

Hi Tammy, I can’t ID the ants from this photo, but they are probably a species of Iridomyrmex. The “eggs” are actually scale insects which suck sap from the plant for their nutrition, but also produce a sugary waste liquid (“honeydew”) which the ants collect as food. Cheers, Jon
