User's notes

Patches of CNG monocultures with long layered foliage. The local parkcare group Friends of Mt Majura mapped and reported CNG for over a decade in the area: the second picture is a map generated with GPS data and ArcView in 2011. CNG vastly spread over the years, particularly during the last 3 LaNina events; the spraying with Glyphosate in Sept 2022 was not very successful probably because only 5% of the crop was sprayed and no follow-up management action was applied. Friends of Mt Majura desperately try to protect the restoration work they began in 2004 (see for instance https://majura.org/working-party-23-10-2022/).

Thanks Waltraud - yes wet years are good for Chilean Needlegrass, but it is one of the few weeds that you can spray across winter. I try to spray most Red Hill outcrops at least once every two years and think that I am winning gradually pushing back the fronts but it is very important to keep at it over the long term

Im basically the only sprayer in our group but have serious health issues; I can't put in the numbers of hours I used to do (72 hours / week in peak times). I understood that CNG is a priority weed for Parks to deal with so my hope is that there will be Parks / contractors work on Mt Majura to control CNG which is spreading.

Thanks Waltraud - hopefully there would be an understanding of areas to be sprayed by PCS or contractors as part of teh park care yearly plans - will try and work towards this

FoMM mapped CNG with Field Map 2022-23 untreated weeds both north and south of the little watercourse gully; contractor sprayed on the south side only - I don't understand why contractor/s spray only parts when they attend a site for treatment.
