Hi guys- Mhhh looks more like a Lim tas to me esp when you zoom into the photo on the bottom right- you can easily see the markings on the back and on the legs, plus the nice stripe along the spine....
Hi AnkeMaria, I will listen to the calls for that frog and compare tonight. They do look like 2 different species to me too but I have only successfully identified the crinia frogs by call.
Well done Anke Mariia. I must admit I called it signifera with some trepidation given the dorsal stripe. Images can often be difficult at times. I'm not suggesting unnecessary handling of frogs but to tell signifera and parinsignifera apart other than by calls, we really need a peek at the belly. Or at least tell us if it marbled black and white or granular grey
The Lim tasmaniensis is lovingly called- machine gun frog as its call goes ukk ukk ukk check it out here https://ginninderralandcare.org.au/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/11-Limnodynastes-tasmaniensis-Spotted-Grass-Frog.mp3
if you look at the frog photo that is on the bottom right and open it up- zoom in and you can clearly see the dark dots on the back and the stripes on the hind legs Happy frogging! we do need you for our annual FrogCensus in October!
