Hi Tim, sorry about the delay on the ID. Great photos. This is a male, and there is little information available to allow a strong ID (most ant ID's are based on workers). However this looks awfully like some pictures of a male Myrmecia pyriformis posted by Ajay Narendra, who used to work on ant vision using Myrmecia as his subject, so he is a bit of an expert in the area.
