Common in riparian zone, growing on organic soils in shadey-very shaded places; also encroached into creek, and growing amongst stones.

Very tall species that occurs primarily in the riparian zone, it grows to almost 2 meters tall forming dense thickets along creek lines. It was a major obstacle on my Mt Namadgi trip, as it is very common along middle creek.
