User's notes

I really don't know what I'm posting here - but I was sure I saw it move, enough for me to stop and take a photo. I think I can see a head in the flower in pics 1 & 2 (while watching it I thought it saw tiny legs move at the flower end)

Lisa: please can you take it into protective custody, and rear it to an adult moth ?

There is a similar recent record, I'll vote for Heliocosma

OK, Glenn, do you mean CNM Sighting No. 4253079? However, that looks somewhat different.

That one definitely is Heliocosma, I'm being a bit speculative with this and another recent one.

Great work LisaH! Nice to have Glenn Cocking's suggestion confirmed to the species level, see Sighting No. 4410510.

Hi Lisa, Can you get the flower species identified?

I'll try?

The toothed flower petal ends are similar to Murnong (Yam Daisy), Microseris walteri.

It's not possible to ID the flower from the photos, but given the location, I would suggest it is likely to be a catsear (Hypochaeris sp), dandelion (taraxacum sp.), or another weedy daisy.
