6 gang-gangs (3 male, 3 females) sitting in a southern blue gum (euc globulus sub bicostata). One or two birds took in turn chasing away noisy minors and standing sentry. While the other 4 tore strips of bark and ate insects that they found underneath. (Photos are not my best effort).
Having returned to this site I was unable to find the remains of insects underneath the tree. There were however plenty of leaf beetles (Paropsisterna sp, and pie dish beetles). I was unable to find any sawfly larve, but much of the foliage and trunk of this tree is out of my reach so its possible that they could be residing higher up. The only bird in the area today was the male his hollow close by. :)
