Hi Roger, yes, the ants are certainly becoming more active, particularly Myrmecia. Your ID is again very close as both Myrmecia piliventris and Myrmecia fulvipes are similar looking dark ants with long straight "toothless" mandibles. As a field character, the leg colour is important - piliventris generally has dark legs which are not obviously different in colour from the body, while fulvipes has legs which are obviously a different colour from the body, usually red in live or fresh specimens, as in your photo.
