Toothless Bull Ant is the common name for this group of Myrmecia as they have teeth mainly at the tip of their mandibles and only very small or no teeth along the shaft. Myrmecia fulvipes is differentiated from the similar Myrmecia piliventris by having legs which are a strongly different colour from the body, generally red, but sometimes yellowish. Myrmecia pilivetris tends to have dark or very dark red-brown legs.
