User's notes

This one bee kept forming a 'bubble' and 'blowing it out'. It continued to do this for five minutes or so. Eventually stopped and flew away.

This method of nectar concentration is quite common and is used by many species. Instead of storing energy as we do, bees hold nectar in their crop and only release it to the stomach when they need energy. If nectar in the crop is too dilute, the energy can't be released fast enough for best performance.
