Pinara cana and an undescribed species near Pinara divisa have been recorded regularly in the ACT. The females can be separated by their forewing colour: P. cana females are off white grading to light grey towards the leading edge, and the undescribed species near divisa are brown, becoming darker towards the outside edge. The males can be separated by the extent of the broad light bar on the forewing - it is consistently a little longer on P. cana - and by the extent of the orange on the hindwing - there is more orange on P. divisa.
