Hi Milly, thanks for the great photos. Your ID is nearly right, but it's actually Camponotus consobrinus, which is a very similar ant. In your excellent photos you can see a yellow part at the front end of the otherwise all black abdomen (what's called a "gaster" in ants). This tells us that it is Camponotus consobrinus, commonly called the Banded Sugar Ant because of this yellow section. Camponotus nigriceps doesn't have this yellow section on the abdomen. Cheers, Jon
