A young plant with juvenile narrowly 3-lobed leaves

I didn't realise the leaves could be this varied. Ive seen young specimens before on hills around Tuggeranong with much simpler leaves. This one was halfway up Mount Majura.

I suspect, because there were a lot planted on Mt Majura in the 2920s, that this is subsp. trilobus, which I know from fieldwork I did in Queensland.

Hi Betty
the juvenile foliage of B. populneus subsp. populneus has a variety of forms including deeply 3 lobed leaves. The subsp. trilobus is not listed in the Census of vascular plants of the ACT. Therefore, I assume it is subsp. populneus. Mt Majura's Kurrajongs are prominent - if they were trilobus surely that would have been recorded long time ago?

I had not realised that the juvenile foliage of subsp. populneus was so variable.

Some CNM sightings show groups of seedlings with multiple leaf forms.
