Not sure if this is a moth or a butterfly

Dark dorsal spots like those on this specimen are found on larvae of many species in Pyraloidea, for example see

You will need to rear it in captivity to get an adult moth to identify the species.
Of course you should release it back near where you found it if you succeed.
