Drosophilidae (possibly Drosophila melanogaster), commonly called 'vinegar flies', which feed on rotting fruit - not to be confused with the much larger 'fruit flies' which feed on maturing fruit. The name 'fruit fly' is applied to flies in the family Tephritidae.
