User's notes

White tailed spider (?) except its tail is not obviously white. The first of the season? White tailed spiders are not uncommon, easily spotted at night if the light is put on, they move exceptionally quickly. However this one was found in a plastic bag in a drawer in the kitchen!

White-tailed spiders usually have 5 white spots on the tail, with only the one at the tip obvious; the others are a pair about a quarter-way along the abdomen, and a pair about halfway along. These pairs are obvious in young spiders but fade in mature ones.
