I haven't really shown the scale that well here but these are only about 20 cm tall. Given the number and spacing of flowers and the elevation I was thinking maybe Alpine onion orchid? Realise now I should have got in even closer to the flowers!
I'm calling this Microtis sp. at the moment. The genus is undergoing a bit of a review and I have been advised that M. unifolia is not now considered to occur in Australia! It may end up as M. arenaria. A close up of the flower clearly showing the labellum is required for id, not easy with such small flowers.
Hi Tony - thanks for that ... sounds like Microtis could def do with a rework! I'm actually out in Namadgi again tomorrow so will get a more close up shot of the flowers - was on the run the other day so just took a few quick snaps. Cheers Glen
