It might be Ranunculus pumilio, though it is of quite differen habit from the one Don photographed in wester NSW. The Plantnet key differentiates them on the basis of mature seeds. The two species appear to have quite different basal leaves. Do have a photo of leaves near the base?

I have read the descriptions of the upper leaves of the two species more carefully. The leaflets of pumilio are divided again while those of sessiliflorus are not. It would be worthwhile, however, to look at mature seeds from both sites to make sure. I am not completely convinced.
