Even though there are no juvenile leaves, which I would have expected in a subshrub this size, I think this is Acacia rubida. The stems are reddish (usually yellowish brown in A. buxifolia) and the phyllodes are far too large (to 3.5cm long in A. buxifolia)

No juvenile leaves anywhere. Length of phyllodes about 2cm long. Other nearby trees have phyllodes between 1 and 2.5cm long.

It's definitely Acacia buxifolia - more slender, erect habit, and smaller leaves. I checked out the area this morning - there are no A. rubida there, but plenty of A. buxifolia to 2 m tall.

Thank you for the confirmation. I didn't think it looked like A. rubida
