Date and location approximate, on edge of Isabella Pond. This noxious weed was found on the pond and was treated with herbicide by park rangers with Environment ACT in 2015-16. Jenny Conolly was the Invasive Species Officer overseeing the task.
This is definitely a weed, and a serious one. However there are similar looking natives. You can see Blackberries at: http://canberranaturemap.org/Community/Species/8528 We do all sorts of wild plants both natives and exotics.
This weed has also been found in the ACT recently, and rangers have attempted to eradicate it. Michael Mulvaney asked me to keep a look out for it as it was reported and destroyed at Isabella Pond. The photos were imported from the Atlas of Living Australia in order to have them available on our website.
