Wow all the way over there. A very good find and Waltraud will be interested to know there are more. It would be mind blowing if you found the other punctatum species at Majura as well.
Matt I'd be over the moon if this is a second colony; I've wrote a mail to CNM - A, please pass on. as far as I now the species is only known from namadgi/tidbinbillaarea area and one specimen from Aranda Bushland.
I was with a friend at the time, so couldn't look for more, but decided to report it regardless. It's still only a short walk from the others, so could very well be the same species as them, but it is only 20 cm in height, as opposed to the really tall ones around the scribbly gum. I didn't count those myself, but there might be more than 10. While I'm at it, I should point out that the Caledenia actensis we observed for the rare plant walk have not been pollinated.
Nooooooooo! We need to get Tobias onto the Actensis pollinator, he's the master and will know.
Matt do you agree that this new hyacinth orchid you've found is kind of dull in colour just like the other Majura ones. Where as the Gungahlin Hill punctatum one was brighter and more colourful/vibrant even at very early development stages. So I'm betting this will be another roseum.
From memory the specimen that we saw and that are hosted most likely by one euc were of very different size; could well be that it is a D roseum dwarfling... And they are not "dull" in colour Aaron but exquisite.
