The local ones growing in the Belconnen area are usually Wahlenbergia communis (leaves mostly alternate except for possibly a few near the base) or Wahlenbergia stricta (leaves opposite, or the uppermost subopposite, whatever that means). W. graniticola and W. multicaulis have similar sized flowers, and also occur in Canberra. The diagnostics for these are more complicated.
