Perhaps a bad experience has made it more wary, and therefore active? How many have you seen now? Is that four at least?? This one also appears to be more two-toned than the others??

I'm aware of at least six that are around at the moment Christine. There are the two permanent residents of the tree that you've seen and photographed, the one above, and another three that I haven't processed and posted yet. The latter three were one time sightings. I suspect that there are many more around at the moment that just don't get seen because of them blending in with the background. And yes, the spider in this sighting has a very different body pattern to the others I've seen.

I'm amazed that you are so familiar with the ANBG that you have a count of the number of Two-tailed spiders!

Maybe I should get out more... Or is that the problem?
Seriously, these spiders appear to come in two types, which makes them easy to find and keep track of. They either remain in the one spot for literally weeks at a time (as evidenced by the CNM sightings of at least two individuals over a period of weeks) or they take off as soon as the photographer gets close to them, making them easy to see by their movement. Once you know this behaviour and the type of trees that suit their markings then its easier to see them and try and keep a track of them over time.
