Puzzling photos.
Wingspan?
Why are the legs up in the air?
Was it flying when you took it's portrait?

I believe this is an undescribed Xyloryctinae moth that has been previously recorded on Black Mountain. Male specimen, female is generally white with a little of the same yellow and black.

If you look closely (I don't know what resolution you see the photo) but it is using its front legs to hold onto a blade of Lomandra.

Yes, I can see that. Did it appear to be hanging around the Lomandra generally? What time of day was it?

I meant to ask, do you have a photo taken from above?

I have added a photo taken from above. It stayed on the Lomandra for at least a few minutes which is why I was able to take several photos. According to the photo it was taken about 5 pm. It was pre CMN and I tried to identify it for ALA but I have difficulty remembering much else.

We already had a name in place for this sighting, Xyloryctinae sp. I merged the two species successfully...

Michael, when I had a look the first two photos, they are of the same sighting at Aranda - should there only be one photo there? So two different sightings in all?

Janet
Your sighting is fine. Just an Admin fix by me. We had the following sighting with the same ID of Xyloryctinae sp, but we had 2 entries of Xyloryctinae sp on the species list:
Concealer moth (Oecophoridae) Xyloryctinae sp. (subfamily) (A concealer moth) on 12 Feb 2018
