Is the head of this moth in shade or not?

Oh, good point . . . I don't know. Maybe - that would explain the difference in head colours, when I swore I was following the same moth! :)

Assuming it's deep shade I thinks its the same species as 4605109

Thank you - I think so too - I really thought I was following the same moth, and was surprised to see the different head colours. Thank you for solving the mystery!

Doesn't Philobota xiphostola have a dark edge? https://lepidoptera.butterflyhouse.com.au/phil/xiphostola.html

probably are both the same moth as both have split/damage to edge of wing directly below the dot

Thank you all!

This moth's head is quite different to P. xiphistola: no yellow, no dark 'collar', Has a dark spot on the forewing.

I think A. protophhaes is a more plausible ID for this moth, given WendyEM's contention that some specimens don't show a double spot and that the palps in this photo are in deep shade; and that the true colour of the palps is white as in the similar moth Sighting No.4605109. However, looking at the existing photos of that species in this region and on LBH I'm not 100% convinced
