We'll keep an eye on it, @HughCo . Perhaps see if we can get some better photos.
Having looked at the photos of your suggested plant, my partner is not entirely convinced. I have no idea.

Could it be a native fireweed of some type? This site has been mown for the last 50 years but it has now been designated a conservation area and will no longer be mowed intensively. It will be interesting to see what pops up.
