Most likely the things have been planted by someone from Parks Service / CNP north about 2 years ago probably as part of training of the ever changing rangers (rangers often start on Mt Majura without experience, some stay close to a year some less than a month); as usual there was no communication with FoMM, so we don't know what was planted, perhaps non-local species? the plastic guards are now littering the reserve.

Its is the site CUBS calls MMN where they have had a wildlife camera, and still have pallets to look for reptiles. Disturbed by rabbit burrows.

If you ever come across the site again would you mind to take a photo of the guards, perhaps also check and take a photo of inhabitants if there are still there .... I expect that the many rabbits around there had a go on the unprotected young plants - depends of course of species.

Will do. Some of them are there - some Bursaria.

Bursaria would be great if it is the local subspecies ....

These nightshades removed, cut and dabbed on 1 March when sightings also taken of the inhabitants of the pink guards.
