if the image on ALA of Eutornia intonsa by Dezmond Wells is correctly IDed - (it looks very close to the Syntype image to me) - it has palps very similar to this fella

OK, well spotted. I stand corrected,

A new species for NatureMapr's Canberra and Southern Tablelands region.
Nice photo.

I have seen / seen someone else's photo of this one before - the front end is so distinctive. Not sure Eutorna intonsa or Eutorna leptographa or one of the others with a distinct white stripe? Unlike other Eutorna, this one didn't seem to have any distinct spots.

It may be that this moth may be better identified as Eutorna (genus) rather that E. intonsa. Yes, I'm not sure I''ve yet seen a close match of this specimen on BOLD or the ALA.

Eutorna, not Eutornia.

I don't think it is that sp. I was using it as an example of the look of Genus. The common one - E. tricasis tends to hold its palps so differently. Your moth is E. sp. Atlas of Living Australia (ALA) has the species listed - 15 Eutora sp in fact. It is also in the Checklist plus 11 other sp.

Not E. tricasis as I know that one from SEQ and its markings are quite distinctive.

The erection of the scales around the palps might be only possible in live specimens ?
