Do you know if I’m allowed to water plants in Nature Reserves?

I mean personally don’t see why not, but I not sure I’d actually ask the proper authority if you know what I mean.

Copied from my ParkCare plan:
"Environment Volunteer Activities are considered a Restricted Activity under the Nature Conservation Act (2014) and Activities Declaration relevant to each reserve. Environment Volunteer Activities may be conducted only in accordance with these approved volunteer works programs. All additions/amendments to this plan must first be approved the the ParkCare Ranger and District Ranger."
I can't comment on whether watering would be a serious breach of the rules - think of what else happens in the reserves.

Well I was sort of joking. It’s in about the most remote part of the reserve at the bottom of a gully that is not easy to crawl into. But thank you. I’ll check with the ranger before I do anything drastic like water a fern. 😊

It may turn out to be a Blechnum nudum

That’s what I’m thinking. There is one in the Our Patch field guide. It’s funny that I’ve found the fish bone and mother shield only in one spot together and tiny and in a gully that is disgusting. Weird.

Years ago there was a Polystichum proliferum and a Blechnum nudum growing under a large log across a gully under power lines in Aranda Hill. About due west of your find.

Due west of where I am is the tunnel to Black Mountain. The Powerlines are much higher up in AB.

Sorry west is toward AB not BM. I’m directionally challenged. But Powerlines are up in AB ie north from where I am. I’ve checked most gullies in that area but might have missed something. Or the ferns that you saw need to be watered

That was about 40 years ago. Likely no longer there but they are hardy plants. The was also one Blechnum cartilagineum closer to Belconnen Way

I mean, if this is the ID we are all happy with, it may as well be genus Blechnum rather than family. The only genus in Blechnaceae within the ACT is Blechnum itself.

Thank you everyone. That makes me 😊
