An ACT Parks Ranger gave the name 'Kowen Guardian' to this giant Eucalyptus bridgesiana (apple box) at Kowen Forest (6.3m trunk girth) because it is adjacent to a population of the endangered Eucalyptus aggregata (black gum)

However the Black Gums, E. aggregata are one of the ACT’s rarest eucs and only occur at this site

I forgot to add that aggregata is a listed threatened species in NSW due in part to lack of recruitment in grazed sites.
