Appears to be a brown rat. Found dead in chook enclosure - we have not used poisons. Another (live) briefly seen nearby - probably more.

Hi Barb, the photo I am looking at does not have most of the head or the end of the tail visible. Have you a photo that shows the head? Also, why do you think Brown Rat (R. norvegicus) rather than Black Rat (R. rattus)? I am leaning toward the latter but would like to see the head.

I can see the head when I click on original in the bottom left hand corner of the image @DonFletcher but not sure if you have this access?
