User's notes

Saw this beauty fly over the yard twice while doing yard work, so that was a good excuse to grab the camera! It then flew past the back fence and cut back on our corner. Not the best photos in the world, as it was seriously moving! Dropped down as Common Crow to start proceedings, but visually doesn’t seem to fit 100% to other images. Thought it was just black and white, until looking closely at the first images of the butterfly (flying right to left, with neighbourly Ute in background) - is that some red colouration in the tail? This Butterfly was seriously chunky! I’ve never seen anything like it…

Jim, as you have seen, these are large butterflies. Males have a wingspan of 102mm and females 108mm.

Thanks @owenh
Spectacular! Never seen them here before, so got a little more than excited.
They are more than welcome to stay.
