Approx 8mm long, multiple bees resting inside or on Wahlenbergia flowers. Orange/red on lower part of legs.

From the relative size of the flower it looks to be rather smaller than 8 mm. Based on the size and colour of the legs, I supect it may be Lasioglossum cognatum.

Hi Michael, you’ve had me doubting myself but they were definitely around 8mm, no more than 1mm either side of that. Perhaps the flower isn’t as small as it might seem and giving the wrong perception of the scale.

In that case, my suggestion would be Lasioglossum (Parasphecodes) imitator. The hair pattern beneath the abdomen is one of the distinctive characteristics.
