Any waterbodies nearby?

Around 15-25 meters from nearest water. This water does dry up some years but has had water in continuously at least since last Autumn. We are getting a lot of soldier flies which might have had larvae in the same water.

I do not recognise this, yet. Will delve when back to my laptop.

I've seen nothing like it after an exhaustive search.

What plant is that? I think the 'moth' is a bent damaged flower bud with stamens hanging out.

I saw it fly, so it is probably not a plant.

Did it have 4 wings or 2?

It flew very quickly and erratically. It was all I could do to track it to its perch the first time. It was just a blur on the move. I have just been back to the same general area. Picked up some sub 5mm moths which I will add when I have processed them. But nothing like this one, I am afraid.

A number of Hemiptera exude wax from the rear, some known as "Fluffy Bums".
