About to water some natives when I saw movement and found this female Orchard Swallowtail just emerging from some native clematis. I moved her to some citrus trees against the house to dry her wings and covered with netting so that the visiting Magpies didn't think she was lunch. She was still there the next day but then climbed up the brick wall. Again thought this was too obvious for the Magpies so moved her back into the leaves until it got warmer. Interestingly, the clematis is near the verge of the road, several metres from the nearest citrus trees upon which the larvae feed. Must have been quite a journey for it.
