This specimen of Podolobium aciculiferum in the Sydney gully at ANBG is proving very attractive to bees. It appears to be the only specimen in the gardens and has an extended flowering period from December onwards, making it the only Fabaceae in flower this month. Apart from the several species of megachilids, hyalines and halictids visiting, a male Xylocopa aerata has also been reported on its flowers but no females so far, although its near the Sennas favoured by the latter.

Hi Roger, there are a couple of plants in section 18, on a path that leads to and from the Eucalypt lawn. There were native bees feeding there this morning. Also there is a plant (Swainsona gaIegifolia) just across from the red center that seems quite popular with native bees at the moment.
