A weird colour variation, the flowers are wrong for Genista I believe

I thought it was too leafy for Cytisus. Petioles nearly the same size as leaflets. I went back today to see if I could get leaves and pods but couldn't find the plant. 2022-23 Invasive Plants Control data show that Cape broom was removed in Nov 2022 but I don't know if the identification was checked, rather than relying on this sighting information.

Let's see if Ciaran has any input, but to me, the flower structure is pretty distinctive, Cytisus can be quite leafy at times, but that calyx structure is pretty distinct I find.

Luke has put me onto this detail regarding the flower morphology, it seems a good way of distinguishing the pair and would make this sighting clearly Cytisus

Yeah, I did a bit more research into the matter (just to make sure I was right), so yeah I think this is a pretty safe ID feature. On a side note, I find plants like this with colourful flowers also tend to be Cytisus, Genista doesn't seem to show as much variation in the flower colour (it's almost always a plain uniform yellow).
