Approx 15mm long, ants retreated to nest when approached. Found three nests, all had remains of millipedes all around the nest entrances

Hi Steve, I had a few problems with glitches in the CNM system, so took a while to finalise this one. Thanks again for the good photos. This ant is very likely to be Rhytidoponera punctiventris as it looks right and is pretty common, but there are a few that look pretty similar. As a consequence I've put it into the "Rhytidoponera aciculata species group" which includes the species Rhytidoponera punctiventris as well as a number of others with similar attributes.
