Approximately 30 plants ripped out to thatch, disguise a cubby house. Other plants that were ripped out for disguising the cubby house were young Silver wattles and kangaroo apple (visible in the photos).
6 and 7 year old children of a local school planted these during National Tree School Day.
My heart sank when I saw this vandalism.
The Government promotes unqualified the building of cubby houses (Nature play, cubby house competition).
I wrote many letters to authorities requesting to stop unqualified promotion.
Not to mention that logs that could be providing habitat for native insects, spiders, reptiles, and many others, these cubby houses seem to be widespread within all of our nature reserves, there's a particularly large one at mulligans flat making use of timber that was put down to provide habit to native wildlife. All this for a few hours of fun, to then be long forgotten about.
