These are two specimens but located closely together. The one on the third image was eaten when I got back for follow up pictures. The other one clearly has been half eaten. Any suggestions as to which species they may be?
I would guess the same thing. I saw some buds at a known site this morning that looked very like the third image. The labellum looks right too. These will all have to be changed to the new name D. ampliatum at some stage, hopefully by someone with better IT skills than mine. At least the muncher gave us a nice view of the column and the tunnel it forms through which the pollinator insect has to crawl.
