I have listened to some Spotted Dove calls on YouTube and the call I heard today was nothing like that. It was just one repetitive deep , muffled honking note. At first I thought it was a distant siren of some sort!

Hey EggShell, have you tried listening to some Common Bronzewing calls? Let me know if that sounds more like what you heard.

Hi Matthew. Yes that’s it! Exactly what I heard. At first I thought it was some distant alarm because it was so repetitive and then I realised it was coming from a tree. 😀

It's a very strange call, hey EggShell, but you'll never forget it now.

No I won’t. I’ve never heard it before and I hope to hear it again now 😊

They are fairly common in Mt Taylor Nature Reserve, and I've heard them calling there before. I even saw one flying over the Tuggeranong Parkway earlier this week, from Mt Taylor and in the direction of Weston Creek.
